'LOVE THE BATTLE'! It's the YMCA Total Tennis Motto. What does it mean? It means that a winning attitude is more important than a winning score. The desire to pull out a positive attitude when things get tough is what 'the battle' is all about. Developing confidence, doing one's best, accepting challenges...LOVE THE BATTLE! This applies on the court and off and it's what we instill in out students on a daily basis.
For 20 years, Total Tennis has been challenging kids of all ages and levels to work hard and develop winning attitudes - regardless of age or ability! This is our goal. Some will go on to play at the national or collegiate level but it's the student who holds his head up, works hard and maintains a positive attitude while losing or struggling in a lesson that receives our greates praise. Regardless of level of play - all will receive the gift of tennis - a healthy sport for a lifetime.
Some of our greatest joys come in watching the kid who didn't know he had the ability to acheive. Acheive in our vocabulary means dedication, action and perserverance. Experience has shown us that children take the values they learn on the court and apply it to life in general - that's the gift of tennis!
